LOAN EXIT COUNSELING
If you borrowed a federal loan (Stafford, GSL, SLS, Direct Loan) to help finance
your college education at Westchester Community College
and/or another college, Federal
regulations
MANDATE that you complete an
exit interview if you fall into any of
the categories below:
-
Not registered in this current semester
-
Not registered at Westchester Community
College, but are registered at another college
-
Enrolled for less than 6 credits
-
Scheduled to graduate at the end of this
semester
-
Indicated on your loan application that you
would graduate this semester
-
Withdrew or dropped out of school
Even if you did not borrow your loan
through Westchester
Community College, the
federal government still requires you to do the exit interview.
The information provided in the exit interview outlines your rights and
responsibilities to repay your student loan, your deferment options, payment
plans, and other pertinent loan information. A hold will be placed on your
account at the college until this process is completed.
If you borrowed both
FFELP and Direct Loans, you will need to complete both exits.
Complete the exit online by following the instructions outlined below:
FFELP Loan Borrower
(Bank loan such as Citibank, Sallie Mae etc.)
If you borrowed a FFELP loan you must apply for a New York State
Higher Education Corporation (HESC) Pin number. The pin number allows
you to access your loan information in real-time through Meteor at
Mapping Your Future (MYF).
Log on to the site below then follow the
instructions: https://web1.hesc.org/authenticate/welcome.hesc?ai=26&sp=8576&si=4117
