Displaced Homemaker Retraining
Over the past 24 years, Project Transition has helped more than
8,000 Displaced Homemakers gain marketable skills.
Project Transition at Westchester Community College has been a leader since 1987 in helping Displaced Homemakers from Westchester and Putnam counties to enter or re-enter the paid workforce. The program provides services to displaced homemakers who are divorced, widowed, separated, or whose spouses have become disabled or unemployed.

- Must have previous experience using computer applications, strong
basic operational skills on a Windows-based computer, solid file
management skills, and a commitment to developing expertise in using
Word and Excel
- Certification Exam Fee of $170

Intensive computer classes from 60-80 hours over 6-8 weeks

Courses are offered free for those
who meet both our eligibility requirements as well as prerequisites for
training programs.

Unemployed Worker Are you unemployed? You may qualify to take free computer and business
classes at Westchester Community College to gain marketable skills to re-enter today’s workforce. Call
the Westchester County Office of Employment and Training at 914-995-3910 for eligibility
information. Tell them you are interested in taking courses at Westchester
Community College.
