THE NATIVE PLANT CENTER HOSTS NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION EVENT ON APRIL 10

The Native Plant Center (NPC) at Westchester Community College is holding an event with National Wildlife Federation (NWF) representatives on Saturday, April 10. A Morning with the National Wildlife Federation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the college’s Valhalla campus.

Join representatives from the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) for a fun and informative event that will promote NWF’s mission of inspiring Americans to protect wildlife for our children’s future. NWF Media Spokesperson and Naturalist David Mizejewski will present Designing a Wildlife Garden for the Home Landscape. He will show how to create a beautiful nature-friendly landscape. Next, Curtis Fisher, Regional Executive Director for NWF’s Northeast Regional Center will present Safeguarding the Northeast’s Wildlife, Natural Resources and Communities in a Warming Climate. He will outline how NWF’s Northeast Regional Center is working on regional, state and local strategies to make ecosystems more resilient to climate change and to adopt policies that protect wildlife and people in our area. The National Wildlife Federation will also staff an information table to answer native landscape questions and will distribute a wide array of educational publications.

Landscape professionals take note: this program has been approved under the guidelines of the American Society of Landscape Architects’ Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LA CES) as eligible for three Professional Development Hour credits. A certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the program.
